Docker-Generated Mechanism Discovery
Mechanism Lab
A 3D pathway workspace for testing how sewage-sludge proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, aqueous organics, minerals, and upgrading chemistry can be steered toward usable oil instead of nitrogen-rich failure modes.

- model-compound run plus real-sludge confirmation
Current intervention pathways: Protein nitrogen to Maillard heterocycles; Lipids to fuel-range hydrocarbons; In-situ hydrogen and redox donor chemistry. These are bench priorities for model-compound and real-sludge tests, not proof that the route is ready.
The page deliberately keeps catalyst risk and scale complexity visible. A high novelty score is useful only if the same package can close oil yield, oil nitrogen, aqueous COD, residual metals, and catalyst lifetime.
The strongest practical discovery package is staged: hydrogen donor screening, low-nitrogen pretreatment, mild stabilization, aqueous recycle boundaries, and Fe/Zn redox tests before any full fuel-spec campaign.
Current mechanism decision
Prioritize mechanism tests before inventing a final fuel recipe
The newest research points to a practical discovery package: test formic acid and zero-valent metals as in-situ hydrogen donors, use two-stage pretreatment to reduce nitrogen load, define the aqueous-phase recycle boundary, and treat mild hydrotreatment as stabilization before deep denitrogenation. None of these are finished-fuel proof until real sludge and model compounds agree.
Municipal-sludge HTL oil contains high nitrogen and oxygen families, so direct fuel use is gated by pathway control and upgrading.
Formic acid in-situ hydrogen donor is the top model-ranked intervention, with external-hydrogen relief treated as a measurable claim.
The selected package covers protein, lipid, carbohydrate, hydrogen-donor, aqueous, mineral, and upgrading behavior.
